DELO Gives Students of TUM Asia an Insight Into the Company

11/06/2017

62 students of TUM Asia, a foreign branch of the Technical University of Munich (TUM), visited DELO as part of their semester abroad at TUM. During the study visit, they learned about the company's working processes and the use of high-tech adhesives in cars and smartphones.

The students of chemical engineering were taken on a tour of the company and got a good insight into the wide range of adhesive applications. They also had the opportunity to do a bonding task themselves. During the practical part, the visitors were assisted by the laboratory staff and three students of the university, who are currently writing their Master's theses at DELO's and were available for questions and discussions.

The program for the half-day visit had been organized by DELO Academy, which not only offers training courses of various levels, but also promotes cooperation with universities and maintains a close partnership with TU Munich and TUM Asia. For example, in cooperation with TUM, DELO offers a course where students are provided with basic knowledge of bonding technology. This topic is becoming more and more important in the industry, for example due to the trend of automotive lightweight construction. However, adhesive bonding has been rather neglected in universities so far.

A warm welcome for the students from the Far East was also given by Sabine Herold, Managing Partner of DELO, who was delighted about the visitors' interest. „We are always happy to offer young people, who are studying or doing an apprenticeship, the opportunity to see our company from the inside. Most of them are quite astonished to learn that every second smartphone contains a drop of DELO”, said Herold. “In addition, such study visits always promote intercultural exchange and leave a lasting positive impression with regard to the attractiveness of the ‘German Mittelstand’”, continued Herold.
