Anaerobic Adhesives
What are anaerobic adhesives?
Anaerobic adhesives are one-component adhesives that cure in the absence of oxygen and through contact with metal ions. These adhesives remain liquid in air and only cure when enclosed between closely fitting metal surfaces where oxygen access is prevented.
When are anaerobic adhesives used?
- Thread locking: Securing machine screws against loosening
- Thread sealing: Sealing pipe fittings
- Flange bonding: Surface bonding of metal parts
- Bearing applications: Fixing bearings and bushings
Properties of anaerobic adhesives
- Curing only in the absence of oxygen
- High strengths on metallic substrates
- Temperature resistance up to 200°C
- Chemical resistance against oils and solvents
- Reversibility at high temperatures possible
