Cyanoacrylate
What is cyanoacrylate?
Cyanoacrylate is a fast-curing adhesive based on derivatives of the ethyl or methyl cyanoacrylate monomer that cures through moisture. These adhesives are also known as "instant adhesives" and polymerize upon contact with weakly alkaline surfaces or moisture within seconds.
Properties of cyanoacrylate
- Very fast curing (seconds to minutes)
- Ready to use one-component system
- High strengths on many materials
- Low viscosity for good wetting
- Brittle curing with standard formulations
Application areas
- Electronics manufacturing: Fast fixation of small components
- Automotive industry: Attachment of clips and small parts
- Medical technology: Bonding plastic housings
- Repair applications: Quick emergency bonding
Material compatibility
- Plastics: Very good adhesion on most thermoplastics
- Rubber and elastomers: Excellent adhesion
- Metals: Good adhesion, especially on aluminum
- Limited adhesion on polyolefins (PE, PP)
DELO Adhesive Solutions
