What is viscosity?
Viscosity describes the flow properties or thickness of adhesives and other liquids. It significantly determines processing behavior, wetting properties, and dosing capability of adhesives. Viscosity is measured in Pascal-seconds (Pa·s) or millipascal-seconds (mPa·s).
Viscosity ranges of adhesives
- Low viscosity: 1-100 mPa·s for deep penetration and impregnation
- Medium viscosity: 100-10,000 mPa·s for standard applications
- High viscosity: 10,000-100,000 mPa·s for vertical applications
