PU Adhesive
What is PU adhesive?
PU adhesive (also called PUR or PUR-polyurethane) is a flexible adhesive based on polyurethane chemistry, characterized by high elasticity and excellent adhesion on various materials. These adhesives combine strength with flexibility and are particularly suitable for dynamically stressed connections.
Properties of PU adhesives (PUR-polyurethane)
- High flexibility and elasticity
- Excellent adhesion on many substrates
- Good weather resistance
- Paintability with many formulations
- Wide temperature operating range
- Chemical resistance against many media
Curing mechanisms of PUR systems
- Moisture curing: Curing through atmospheric moisture
- Two-component systems: Reaction after mixing
- Solvent-based: Curing through solvent evaporation
- Hot melt: Thermoplastic systems for fast bonding
Application areas
- Automotive industry: Windshield bonding and body sealing
- Construction industry: Structural glazing and facade bonding
- Electronics: Flexible bonding in mobile devices
- Textile industry: Lamination of functional fabrics
- Packaging: Flexible packaging films
Material compatibility
- Metals: Very good adhesion on most metals
- Plastics: Particularly good on polycarbonate and ABS
- Glass: Excellent adhesion for structural glazing
- Wood: Good adhesion with appropriate formulation
