For most people the application and interview process can be daunting due to the fear of making mistakes. We chat with Luzia, a recruiter at DELO, to discover how applicants can effectively prepare and approach the process with confidence. What impresses the DELO recruiting team—and what doesn't? What types of questions might candidates face in the interview?
When candidates include a cover letter, I appreciate seeing a direct reference to DELO and our industry. It's easy to spot when only the address has been changed and the same application has been sent to 15 other companies.
Complete documentation, including all relevant certificates and a chronological, gap-free resume, leaves a strong impression. It's also helpful if applicants share their salary expectations upfront.
Applicants need to choose us just as much as we choose them. That's why, over the course of three meetings, we strive to determine whether both sides are a good fit for each other.
During the initial interview, conducted via Teams, we discuss the candidate's resume in a traditional manner. We aim to understand the decisions applicants have made in their lives and the motivations behind them.
If the initial conversation goes well, we invite the candidate to a "get-to-know-you" day. During this day, we aim to find out if they would enjoy working with us. It's an opportunity for them to meet potential colleagues and to see if they would be a good fit for the team.
In a final interview, candidates meet a member of our executive team. We are a family-owned business, which is particularly evident here.
I always want to know what aspects of their previous roles candidates enjoyed or didn't enjoy. This helps me better understand their expectations for the job and what they hope to gain from working at DELO.
Sometimes we surprise applicants by having thoroughly reviewed their documents and asking about specific details, such as the content of a school project or their bachelor's thesis.
I enjoy meeting many new people and seeing candidates again in the hallways after they've started at DELO. It's very rewarding to see that they've settled in happily and that the job is truly what they want.
Use these tips and apply now. We look forward to hearing from you!
