In most optical devices, multiple functional elements are combined to an optical system. Diffractive optical elements, lenses, polarizers, spacers or apertures need to form a functional stack with precise alignment and distances to achieve the highest possible performance. This is enabled by specifically developed optical-grade adhesives, which are essential to bond and fix optical components in the perfect position, either individually or directly on the wafer- or panel-level. Whenever the adhesive is employed in the optical path, tailored optical and mechanical properties become important to enable the best optical performance and long-term reliability of the optical device.
DELO high performance optical adhesives are designed to deliver outstanding reliability performance even in challenging conditions. Most products survive reflow cycles with peak temperatures of 260 °C and extended storage under high temperature, high humidity or UV-exposure without a significant loss in transmission. This enables their utilization even in demanding applications such as automotive lighting or laser systems, where a reliable bonding strength in combination with constant optical properties is key.
