Air, water, and dust tightness are decisive properties in most consumer electronic applications such as wearables. Adhesives such as DELO PHOTOBOND GB4033 have been specially developed as a sealant to provide a hermetic seal. This light-curing, peel-resistant and waterproof acrylate has features that make it an excellent all-rounder for this application.
Designed for service temperatures ranging from -40 °C to +120 °C, it is particularly suited for bonded joints that require adhesives not only to be strong but also flexible and impermeable to air, water, and dust. This product provides very good sealing properties against water, humidity, and dust, as is often required in the world of consumer electronics.
In addition, an elongation at tear of 400% makes it incredibly tension-equalizing. This elasticity contributes to excellent peel resistance on glass and plastic, with an average peel strength on PEEK, PC, or PET of 14 N/cm compared to 1-3 N/cm for standard acrylates.
DELO PHOTOBOND GB4033 is fluorescent and blue in color, very useful for controlling application precision. The adhesive cures under both UV and visible light. This broad wavelength coverage makes it possible to use transparent materials with low transmittance such as polycarbonate.
The minimum curing time to reach final strength is four seconds at an intensity of 200 mW/cm²—typical of this application—enabling high-volume processing at short cycle times.
This low-viscosity, one-component adhesive is solvent-free and can be stored at room temperature.
