Activators are a useful material when processing anaerobic-curing adhesives for metal bonding. However, they typically come with potentially harmful solvents. DELO-QUICK activators are solvent-free, enabling fast metal bonding without putting people or the environment at risk.
Activators reduce curing time in anaerobic-curing metal adhesives, which achieve their strength under oxygen deprivation. However, in contrast to anaerobics or other reaction adhesives, most activators contain solvents. As a result, these activators must first evaporate for a few minutes until the solvent has volatilized and the system has dried.
This is not necessary for the low-viscosity DELO-QUICK 5910 and the higher-viscosity DELO-QUICK 5975. Both either activator and the adhesive can be processed using the wet-on-wet method, without prior evaporation. Components can then be joined directly after dispensing the activator. Further processing can continue immediately, which in turn reduces production cycle times.
Both activators can be easily processed and applied by means of a rotor spray, endless-piston dispenser, pinch valve, brush coating, or spray coating.

Being solvent-free, the new activators eliminate the risk of solvent vapors emerging and the associated health and environmental risks. These materials also do away with extraction systems and explosion protection measures in production.
In addition, the fluorescent agents found in the activators allow the application process to visually be monitored via camera, ensuring optimal quality.
Another advantage is that these activators improve humidity resistance when bonding metals such as stainless steel or aluminum. With DELO-QUICK 5975, this is even the case for nickel, which is considered to be difficult to bond because of its different coatings.
