DELO has developed a black adhesive that cures via light. Once a lofty task, now easily achieved thanks to this new dual-curing acrylate, DELO DUALBOND GE4949.
For light-curing processes, adhesives need to be translucent so that photoinitiators can easily be absorbed and activate a bonding reaction. Because black absorbs the majority of light, the amount that is transmitted naturally becomes lower as the layer gets thicker.
However, the DELO DUALBOND GE4949 acrylate, which is black in color, can be used for thicknesses of up to 500 µm. In addition to its light-curing mechanism, it is also humidity-curing, which triggers bonding even in shadowed areas.
DELO DUALBOND GE4949 has a medium-viscosity and very good tension-equalizing characteristics thanks to a high elongation at tear and achieves high strength on various plastics. It is particularly suitable for sealing and bonding black components. This includes sealing wires or connecting terminals and bonding clips or emblems.
For the first time, DELO also offers black-dyed light-activated epoxy resins that can be cured via light, even at thicknesses of up to 1 mm. Unexposed areas are cured in a subsequent heat-curing step. Possible applications for this include covering components for copy protection reasons or shielding against scattered light.
DELO DUALBOND EG4949 was developed as a result of customer demand. If there is a need unanswered by the market for a bonding material within your application field, we would be happy to help. Feel free to contact us for a free, no-commitment project consultation.
