DELO achieves a new €245 million sales record

DELO's continuous investment in research and development pays off, achiving a new sales record with €245 million of sales despite volatile global economy.

Despite the ongoing volatility of the global economy, DELO has closed an exceptionally successful fiscal year 2025 (ending March 31, 2025). With sales of €245 million, the family-owned company from Windach achieved a new sales record – an increase of seven percent over the previous year. Particularly noteworthy: While the German automotive industry weakened and DELO's share of the German market fell from 15 to 13 percent, the company compensated for this with strategic investments in research and development and a successful growth strategy in international markets such as Brazil and India.

Optics & Photonics

Innovations for future markets

In the field of Optics & Photonics, DELO achieved several breakthroughs in 2024 that contributed significantly to record sales. The comprehensive feasibility study for miniLED and microLED applications demonstrates that adhesives are key factors in the mass production of micro LEDs.

Consumer Electronics

Voice coil motors

In the consumer electronics industry, DELO developed DELO DUALBOND LT2221, a new universal adhesive for voice coil motors in smartphone cameras.

The increasing demands on thermal management and mechanical stability in consumer electronics require highly specialized solutions, which DELO provides through continuous product development.

We have been working with camera module manufacturers for a long time to offer customized solutions, especially with regard to active alignment. With this universal, high-quality adhesive, our customers can perform almost all bonding tasks within a VCM—a rarity in today's highly specialized high-tech manufacturing.

Semiconductor Packaging

Ultra-fine structures and fan-out technology

DELO presented two pioneering innovations in the field of semiconductor packaging in 2024. With DELO DUALBOND EG4797, ultra-fine structures (micro dams) with line widths of less than 100 µm can now be precisely applied to chips.

The new adhesive is particularly viscous, yet still allows for fast processing. As a dual-curing solution, it offers flexible curing options – either with UV light in just 10 seconds or thermally in 5 minutes. This clever innovation was honored with the Global SMT Technology Award.

At the same time, DELO developed a UV-based method for fan-out wafer level packaging that effectively prevents critical manufacturing problems such as warpage and die shift. Unlike conventional heat-based processes, DELO's new solution uses UV light, which allows the material to retain its flowability and cure at room temperature. This keeps the chips exactly in the desired position and prevents warping during the curing process. This leads to a significant reduction in scrap and production costs.

With 56 percent of its sales in Asia—the global center of chip production—DELO is strategically positioned to benefit from these semiconductor packaging innovations. The new technologies enable chip manufacturers to produce faster, more cost-efficiently, and with significantly fewer errors, which greatly strengthens DELO's growth potential in this important market.

In the past fiscal year, we faced short-term planning from our clients, accompanied by significant volatility, reflecting their uncertainties about market trends. Despite feeling the impact of Germany's struggling automotive industry, we successfully mitigated this with our strategic regional and sectoral diversification and robust growth in previously smaller markets like Brazil and India.

Automotive Industry

From headlights to fuel cells

Despite the current challenges facing the German automotive industry, DELO invested in strategic automotive innovations in 2024. The research and development department focused specifically on the key technologies of electromobility and fuel cell technology. For hydrogen technology, DELO developed special adhesives for fuel cells, which perform critical sealing and bonding functions. An important milestone is the successful partnership with Bosch for 48V mild hybrid systems.

Although the German automotive industry is under structural pressure, the automotive sector remains a central pillar of DELO's business. Battery adhesives, thermal interface materials, and innovative solutions for sensor integration in autonomous vehicles open up considerable new growth potential.

Medical Electronics

Biosensors for personalized medicine

In medical electronics, 2024 saw the launch of DELO MONOPOX MG3727, a medical-grade adhesive for biosensors. This medical-grade adhesive is ideal for the manufacture of ECG/ECG electrodes and other biosensors and meets the standards (DIN EN ISO 10993-5) for non-cytotoxic materials.

DELO's biocompatible materials are used in implantable devices, pacemakers, biosensors, and diagnostic instruments. The sterilizable formulations enable medical device manufacturers to develop innovative products that meet strict regulatory requirements.

Industrial Solutions

Process Technology

In 2024 DELO launched the DELO-DOT PN5 series jet valves for high-precision dispensing of minute amounts of adhesive. These innovative pneumatic jet valves were specially designed for low-viscosity media up to 35,000 mPa·s and achieve impressive dispensing volumes of up to 1 nl—which corresponds to a minimum drop diameter of 250 µm or less. This precision technology enables a whole new dimension of microdispensing in automated manufacturing processes.

With the DELOLUX 30 series, DELO has set new standards in light-curing technology. The powerful curing lamp achieves an exceptional peak intensity of up to 22.5 W/cm², enabling significantly accelerated fixing processes with significantly reduced cycle times. The optimized intensity distribution ensures consistently high bonding quality, which not only makes production processes more efficient, but also sustainably increases the quality of the end products.

Research and Development

New laboratory building for further innovations

The extensive 2024 product launches are the result of continuous investment in research and development. With 15 percent of sales—three times the industry average—DELO is consistently investing in the future. In addition, construction began on a representative forum and another laboratory building.

As a concrete step toward climate neutrality, DELO installed a photovoltaic system with a peak output of 1.7 MW on its campus in Windach in 2024. In the first 12 months, the 4,000 modules generated enough electricity to meet the annual needs of around 430 households.

At the same time, DELO introduced new sustainable small cartridges, which are manufactured in a separate factory near the headquarters. The 30-cc cartridges use thin foil seals instead of conventional plastic end caps, significantly reducing waste. Our packaging solutions use 80-100% recylced content, and by using temperature-controlled shipping containers from World Courier and other providers, we have been saving more than 1,700 tons of CO2 emissions every year since 2018.

Compared to typical chemical companies with more complex synthesis processes, we at DELO have very low energy requirements. Two major consumers are production itself and the cooling units for the refrigerated storage of our adhesives. Our PV system produces the most electricity on warm, sunny days, when increased power is needed for cooling. This covers our needs very well.
