TUfast ECO Team Makes Field Trip to DELO HQ

On November 24, 2015, the TUfast ECO Team made a field trip to DELO headquarters. The team, comprised of dedicated students, participates in an international competition aiming to develop their own energy-efficient vehicle and race against teams from other universities. DELO sponsored the project, among others.

The day began with an informative company presentation, followed by a tour of DELO's state-of-the-art facilities.

In the theory session, students first received an introduction to the fundamentals of bonding technology. They learned about both one- and two-component adhesives and discovered the importance of design for the durability and functionality of adhesive bonds.

The highlight of the day was the practical session in the training lab. With great enthusiasm and under expert guidance, the students had the opportunity to try different bonding techniques themselves. Adhesive bonds were then tested for their strength and load-bearing capacities, yielding impressive results.

Particularly striking for our guests was a cage assembled entirely by adhesive bonding, demonstrating the immense stability of the adhesives used: The students could stand on it without compromising its structure.

This experience illustrated how bonding technology can enable innovative designs and the role it plays in modern vehicle development. This day not only provided educational insights but also sparked the students' creativity and technical thinking. The TUfast ECO Team is now well-equipped to continue succeeding in the competition and contribute to the future of mobility.
