Wafer-Level Optics: Enabling high-quality lens replication by synchronizing materials and processes

A joint webinar by EV Group and DELO

Microlens or microlens array (MLA) production via imprinting or lens molding of UV-curing polymers is a simple process. However, complications arise when switching from lab-scale prototype production to mass production of high-quality optics at high yield. Only by carefully optimizing all relevant parameters, including imprint resins, working stamp materials and processes, can the best results be obtained when manufacturing wafer-level optics (WLO).

In this webinar, we will speak on the joint efforts by DELO and EVG to demonstrate reliable production of microlenses on a 200 mm wafer with focus on high, optical-grade surface quality and highest possible shape accuracy. This is enabled by a new imprint resin with exceptional optical and mechanical properties, outstanding reliability, as well as favorable processability: DELO KATIOBOND OM6611. Paired with a matching UV-curing acrylate stamp and combined with the optimized process flow of EVG’s newest versatile imprint tool, the EVG®7300, the master lens structure could be replicated with minimal offset and consistently high quality from the very first imprint. Including options for SmartNIL® as well as WLO, combined with industry leading alignment accuracy, gap and force control molding, and upscaling capabilities of up to 300mm wafer sizes, this unique mix of materials and tools represents a turnkey mass production solution for even the most complex nano- and micro-optical structures.

In this webinar, presented by DELO and EVG, you will get answers to questions like:

  • How can reliable microlens production be achieved on a 200 mm wafer?
  • How does this lead to high, optical-grade surface quality and shape accuracy?
  • What benefits do the latest DELO optical materials bring?
  • What are the key features of EVG’s latest multifunctional nanoimprint lithography systems?
  • How easy can you ramp up your WLO and nanoimprint lithography production from 150mm to 300mm?

High-temperature adhesives: These new developments are available for electric motors

Electric motors—especially in electric cars—are becoming more powerful, thus generating more heat. At the same time, more compact designs can lead to increased heat buildup. Therefore, demand for high-temperature (HT) adhesives—which can be used to bond magnets, for instance—has increased significantly.

High temperature-resistant adhesives are in a class of their own, making great developmental strides in recent years. More and more adhesives are now able to perform at 180 °C, 200 °C, or even higher, and still reliably meet their requirements, as demonstrated in 20,000-hour testing.

The webinar will provide answers to questions such as:

  • What properties make an adhesive high-temperature resistant?
  • Which adhesives are suitable for HT applications?
  • Can I achieve strength and temperature resistance sufficient for high-performance engines, even with light-fixable products?
  • What strengths can I expect under demanding conditions, for example after several thousands of hours of storage at 180 °C?
  • What figures do the most durable adhesives achieve after a long-term test of more than two years?
