Adhesive for plastic, metal, glass and ceramic

Industrial adhesives make it possible to permanently bond a wide variety of materials such as metal, plastic, glass or ceramic. Especially when bonding dissimilar materials, the demands on the adhesive are as varied as the material properties themselves. Based on our decades of experience in the automotive and consumer electronics industries as well as in mechanical engineering, we develop our portfolio of solutions for a wide range of requirements and offer high-tech adhesives with all customary curing technologies.

In addition to standard adhesives for metals and plastics, we offer a wide range of special solutions for materials that are difficult to bond, such as nickel or polypropylene.

DELO adhesives are optimized for speed so you can implement efficient processes and high-volume production (UPH). Customers from the automotive and electronics industries in particular also benefit from the wide range of material combinations made possible by adhesives.

Plastic bonding

Adhesive enables plastics such as PA, PBT, PC or PET to be bonded reliably. Special plastics and fiber compounds, such as FR4, LCP or CFRP, can also be permanently bonded with industrial adhesives. Thus, adhesives offer an alternative to plastic welding or mechanical connections such as snap hooks or clips. In addition, the material mix of plastic and materials such as metal, ceramic or glass can be reliably implemented with industrial adhesives. Particularly for filigree injection-molded components, adhesives provide for a permanent bond. Depending on the requirements, the individual bonded joints can be designed to be flexible, tension-equalizing, rigid or for high mechanical loads. When using plastics that are difficult to bond, such as POM, PP or PTFE, additional surface pretreatment can improve the strength. DELO has adapted its adhesives portfolio to the different needs and application areas and developed special plastic adhesives. An overview of all adhesives can be found here.

  • Light curing within in seconds for transparent and light-impermeable plastics
  • Broad portfolio of light-curing products: Flexible or hard - ideal for the material mix
  • Heat curing for temperature-sensitive plastics from 60 °C
  • Service temperature range from -40 °C to +200 °C possible
  • High media resistance for use e.g. in the automotive industry

Metal bonding

An industrial metal adhesive shows high heat resistance. These one-component products cure when in an anaerobic environment if simultaneously exposed to metal ions. DELO-ML works as a screw lock adhesive and to seal threads, thread locks and surfaces. In addition, our metal bonding adhesive products are great for bonding coaxial metal components. Our portfolio includes solutions that can be cured with visible or UV light. Therefore, bonds can be cured quickly even in hard-to-reach areas – which in turn makes it possible to fix components within seconds and bond nonmetal parts!

Properties
  • One-component and easy-to-use metal adhesives
  • Cures anaerobically when catalytically influenced by metal ions
  • Products with added curing mechanism available: visible or UV light
  • Different strength grades available
  • Flexible, impact-resistant and tension-equalizing metal bonding adhesive
  • Excellent resistance to heat and media

Glass bonding

Glass is an indispensable material for the implementation of modern designs. Bonding glass is a task that must meet high aesthetic standards regardless of whether one is working with glass tables or shower enclosures. One of the most crucial aspects of glass-to-glass or glass-to-metal bonding is that the used adhesive is permanently transparent and yellowing-resistant.

Light-curing acrylates, such as the glass metal adhesive DELO PHOTOBOND offer a multitude of possibilities in the making of glass furniture or the production of state-of-the-art glass partition systems. The glass bonding adhesive is and remains transparent.

UV bonding of glass: convincing qualities

DELO’s glass metal adhesives are great for bonding glass to aluminum or other metals, as they offer significant elasticity in contrast to other bonds. Because of this feature, the adhesive is able to counterbalance the materials’ difference in linear expansion.

Due to its extraordinary long-term stability and humidity resistance, the glass metal adhesive is particularly suitable for use in sanitary facilities. Elaborate climate tests have been carried out in order to confirm that the adhesive meets the relevant requirements. In addition, the adhesive’s long-term translucence transparence and yellowing resistance have been successfully tested in a sun simulator.

Properties
  • High-strength and tension-equalizing at the same time
  • Various viscosities are possible (for clean dispensing of adhesive beads for adhesive layer thicknesses up to 3 mm)
  • Humidity-resistant
  • Transparent and resistant to yellowing
  • Index of refraction similar to that of glass
